Best Of Sweden 2005

I was trying to do a top 10 of scandinavian bands of 2005 but then I realized that 9 out of 10 where from Sweden. So I decided to do a little "2005 Best of Sweden Compilation" instead... I probably missed some, but I've been up since 5.30 this morning thanks to my 2 month year old son Elliott - Must sleep... Can't think straight.

I agree this album is already an all-time classic. I wanted to link to some more liveperfomances but then I found out that The Torture Gaden already did the ultimate Arcade-Fire-Post of the year. Tjeck it out here. - The only one he forgot was Arcade Fire on Sounds Eclectic (KCRW).

Somehow I missed out on this amazing band the first time around, but after watching Garden State I have to agree with Natalie Portman; "You gotta hear this one song, it'll change your life I swear!". The song "New Slang" is from Their 2001 debut album "Oh, Inverted World".

Flaming Lips and the Vines

Two releases I'm really looking forward to next year are the new album from the Flaming Lips album, "At War With The Mystics" witch is going to be released in April. It's supposed to be more electronic but yet more organic than "Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots" from 2002.
The other one is from the Vines. I'm not sure what the title is going to be. I hope that it's going to be as good as "Highly Involved" from 02. Their last album "Winning Days" from 04 was not the Vines at their best.

By the way I've been listening to this song all day. It's a cover version by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs of The Liars:

It’s been written on this blog a couple of weeks ago. The new Tiger Lou album “The Loyal” is pretty disappointing. Apart from the album titled single “The Loyal”, there are only half a handful of decent tracks on it. I like “Ten Minutes to take off” though.

First Impressions Of Earth

The new album from The Strokes has been floating around the Pirate Bay for a couple of weeks. I have been listening to it quite a lot and I have to admit that I like it more and more. In the beginning I thought that it had some kind of a The-Darkness-meets-Foo Fighters-flavour to it. But when you get more into it, its actually a really nice fresh album. The release date has been moved forward to January 2nd because of the pirate leak.If you haven't done so already, check out the video for the first single Juicebox that wasout December 5th.

One of my favourite Swedish bands, David and the Citizens has been signed by US label Friendly Fire. First release is a compilation EP with tracks from earlier releases in Scandinavia.
