Whoever compiled this might want to open up their tastes beyond animated videos, which I would say 3/4 of these were. Also, a lot of them are older than 2006, for example the Dizzie Rascal video and I think the Bloc Party one might be older too.

This is so lame.
I love these videos but they show too much bias to music taste of the writer as they are all pretty similar in genre.

That version of Death Cab's "I Will Follow You into the Dark" is different than the one I've seen (the one on music video channels is just Ben Gibbard in a room with a black hole that gets gradually bigger). But I have to say, I liked this version so so much better. It actually almost made me cry a little!

I gotta admit I'm surprised "Harrowdown Hill" made the top ten. It's a beautiful video and I'm nothing if not a Yorke-a-holic, but there's waaaaaaaaaaay too much going on.

However, I totally agree with the inclusion of Sigur Ros and firmly believe that their videos should make the cut every year.

Tool didn´t release any video this year. But anyway this list sucks. If you´re a trendy fashion indie cool it´s ok, but please do not call it "Top 50 music videos of 2006" like it has Music videos of all musical genres when it´s all indie. There´s no Rock, there´s no Pop, there´s no Rap, there´s no Metal, there´s no Blues.

Another great selection of the best videos of the year. I was especially thrilled to see Cat Power's "Living Proof" make the list- I find that video endlessly entertaining, and a wicked War on Terror metaphor, with Chan Marshall representing the forces of Christianity, and going face to face with Islam in a track meet for the ages.

Continuing with the theme of politically astute videos, I was surprised that Juvenile's "Get Ya Hustle On" didn't make your top 50. "Get Ya Hustle On" was, to my mind, the video of the year, joining Spike Lee's documentary "When the Levees Broke" as one of the only cogent statements made about that horrific calamity, and a barbed slap at all the pontificating politicians who abandoned the neediest Americans in their hour of travail.

Check out my MySpace blog for more Juvenile-related thoughts- I write about "Get Ya Hustle On" extensively in my upcoming history of the music video, "Money for Nothing," which will be published by Continuum in March.
